Our unique and irreplaceable natural heritage is what makes Britain beautiful. Now, nature and climate are under threat like never before

Take a look around you in Devon:
  • Our rivers: South West Water made 42,000 discharges of raw sewage into our Devon waterways in 2020 alone. It’s been happening for decades, and there is STILL no legal duty on Water Companies to stop this happening.
  • Our woodland: Devon has some of the lowest levels of woodland in the country. Our fragmented remnants in Devon are under threat from climate change, pests, diseases and development pressures like never before.
  • Our agricultural land: farmers have been poorly served by politicians. Tasked with providing food whilst also conserving our natural heritage, Devon’s farming communities are desperate for joined-up policy.

That’s why Zero Hour was set up, to push for what is really needed: a scientifically led, evidence based, joined-up Climate and Ecological Emergency (CEE) Bill which will:

  • restore and regenerate the UK’s depleted soils, wildlife habitats and species populations to healthy and robust states
  • ensure that all efforts are made to limit global heating to 1.5°C - promises for tomorrow are not enough - action is needed right now
  • ensure we take responsibility for our impact on climate & nature wherever in the world it occurs, so we can make the right decisions, and lead by example

If you care deeply about our Devon natural heritage, join the hundreds of organisations who already support the CEE Bill
